Things I learned from Ragnar

Here are a few things I learned from running my Rangar SoCal this weekend... (More details and pictures to follow when I can think properly)
  • Running 200+ miles is not as bad as it sounds
  • Running long distances with stress fractures is never a good idea, this gets infinitely worse when climbing hills
  • Showers and flushing toilets are under-rated
  • After missing enough sleep short term memory loss is normal
  • The ability to form complete sentences goes after about 24 hours of sleep depravation
  • Living solely on PowerBar ShotBlocks, water, Gatorade and chicken pasta salad is not as bad as it sounds
  • "Bonking" is Bad
  • "Killing" is good
  • "Killing" a guy is GOOD
  • Baby wipes have a million uses
  • Once you and everyone else in the car hit a certain level of stinky-ness your nose stops noticing the smell
  • Reflective vests are annoying
  • When you live in a van with 6 other people for 30 hours personal space becomes a non-issue
  • When unpacking after a Ragnar, half the stuff in your bags isn't yours, and half of your belongings have migrated to other peoples bags
  • The medal that you get at the end makes it all worth it
